Nach einem Jahr der Abstinenz, fand am letzten Wochenende zum vierten Mal das Sommer Viking statt. Hierbei handelt es sich um ein privates Tabletop-Happening, bei dem sich um die 20 Freunde für ein gemeinsames Wochenende in unserem Garten treffen und dem Hobby frönen.

Die Jurte war schnell aufgebaut und bietet jedes Jahr guten Schutz vor den zu heißen oder nassen Witterungsumständen.

Ich habe mir für dieses Jahr das SAGA-Mehrspieler-Szenario “Schlacht um Mehrhoog” ausgedacht. Insgesamt haben wir es mit acht Spielern gespielt. Neben einem Oberbefehlshaber pro Spielergruppe, der bei taktischen Entscheidungen das letzte Wort hat, gab es auch pro Spielrunde einen Kriegsrat, in dem unter anderem spezielle Kommandofähigkeiten geplant werden. Des Weiteren gab es für jeden Spieler einen geheimen Nebenauftrag, den es zu erfüllen galt.

Wir haben auf einem 3,60m x 1,2m großen Spielfeld gespielt. Es sah grandios aus. Das Szenario hat so gut funktioniert, dass wir es auch nicht vorenthalten wollen. Vielen Dank an dieser Stelle auch an Michael Martin von TWS für sein Lektorat.

Des Weiteren wurde gemalt, Dead Man’s Hand, Congo, Freebooters Fate, Guild Ball und seit einer Ewigkeit auch mal wieder Space Hulk gespielt. Vor allem wurde aber auch sehr gut geschlemmt (riesen Dank an meine Liebste) und über unser liebstes Hobby gefachsimpelt.

Ich bin mir sicher, dass es auch 2018 ein Sommer Viking im beschaulichen Mehrhoog am Niederrhein geben wird.

Next to all kind of SAGA stuff I am very exited about Dungeon stuff. I am working on my own Dungeon project (mostly Dwarven Forge) for more than a year.

I backed Dungeon Saga a Dungeon Crawler from Mantic Games a year ago on Kickstarter. I know Ronnie Renton the big Mantic Boss nearly 20 years from our time at GW. We see us 2-3 times a year at Tabletop Conventions. At the last Crisis in Antwerp be talked a lot about Dungeon Saga and I offered him to paint some of the Dungeon Saga miniatures to take some pictures of them together with my Dungeon.
Some weeks ago I received some Dungeon Saga samples (final production miniatures) from Ronnie. Here is the first bunch. Next time I will hopefully show you some pictures of my Dungeon.

The miniatures are fantastic and absolut fun to paint.

With 35C the hottest weekend this year so far!

I builded 8 SAGA Gaming tables with the help of 2 friends. We tried out a new Gaming Mat technique developed by Don Voss. Perhaps I will write a Tutorial in the future.

A weekend of Open Air Tabletop. 20 friens showed up. I ran a 12 mens SAGA-Tournament. After 3 rounds Tim Lohmann (the good looking guy on the right) himself won the Tournament with his Anglo Danes.

We played a lot of SAGA Games, Dead Man’s Hand, the new Studio Tomahawk Game Jugula (Gladiator Fights), X-Wing, Dread Ball and in time for the 25th Anniversary a Game of Heroquest with my nearly finished 3D Dungeon from Dwarvenforge.

Mirco alias Melvey Brandson

I finally managed it to get my fist Pro Gloria miniatures painted. They were a lot of fun to paint. Very charakterful, well sculpted by Paul Hicks and cast with nearly no mold lines.

The miniatures are part of the Citylife 1 blister with now only the herald waiting for some paint. But I think he has to wait until the Crisis is over.

What a great weekend with friends, wargames, beer, barbeque and cupcakes!

Viking Mehrhoog is a small tabletop happening located in a small town next to the dutch border at my families garden which is quite big. Too big if you have to cut the grass of 7000m2.

15 people turned up and we had some games of SAGA, X-Wing and Squad Command a WW2 Skirmish game.

Wheathe was good until late afternoon as we had to move to into a house as rain started. You can see our advanced transport skills at the next to last picture.

I think we all had a great time and there will be definitely a Viking Mehrhoog 2014!
