The assassins may derive their name from the Arabic Hasaseen (\u201cannihilators\u201d, referring to the Qur\u2019an 3:152) or to Hashasheen (\u201cthroat-slitters\u201d or \u201cusers of hashish\u201d in an Egyptian Arabic dialect).
