Often luxurious and maintained by Rome’s elite, villas were categorised by Pliny the Elder as either the villa urbana or the villa rustica. The later stood in splendid isolation surrounded by lush rolling fields, the former packed into a bustling cityscape. Supplied unassembled and unpainted in kit form with full instructions.
